I. General Terms and Conditions

§ 1 Basic Provisions

(1) The following terms apply to contracts you conclude with us as the provider (Cedric Scharf) via the website https://antmeup.de. Any deviating terms on your part shall not apply unless we have expressly agreed to them in writing.

(2) A consumer within the meaning of these Terms and Conditions is any natural person who enters into a legal transaction for purposes that are predominantly outside their trade, business, or profession. An entrepreneur is any natural or legal person, or a partnership with legal capacity, acting in the exercise of their trade, business, or profession.

§ 2 Formation of the Contract

(1) The subject of the contract is the sale of ants.

(2) By listing products on https://antmeup.de, we make a binding offer to conclude a contract via the online shopping cart system.

(3) The purchase contract is formed as follows:

  • You place items in the shopping cart.

  • During the ordering process, you enter your personal data as well as payment and shipping information.

  • Before submitting the order, you are shown a summary of your data for review.

  • By clicking the button “order with obligation to pay” or a similarly worded button, you accept the offer – the contract is thereby concluded.

(4) Processing takes place via email. Please ensure that the email address you provide is correct and that you are able to receive our messages (please check your spam filter).

§ 3 Payment Methods

(1) The following payment methods are available:

  • Advance Payment by Bank Transfer

§ 4 Retention of Title

The goods remain our property until payment has been made in full.

§ 5 Warranty

(1) Statutory warranty rights apply.
(2) Consumers are asked to inspect the goods for damage or defects directly upon delivery and to notify us promptly if any are found. This does not affect any statutory claims.

§ 6 Choice of Law

German law applies.
The UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) is excluded.
For consumers, this choice of law applies only to the extent that it does not restrict any mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country in which the consumer is resident.

  • Contract language: German

  • We do not store the full text of the contract. You can save your order data using your browser's print function before submitting your order. After placing your order, you will receive all relevant data again by email.

5. Prices & Payment

  • All prices include statutory value-added tax.

  • Shipping costs are shown separately during the ordering process.

  • Deliveries are made exclusively within Germany.

  • Payment methods: PayPal (incl. Express), credit card, advance payment

  • For advance payment, the invoice amount is due immediately upon conclusion of the contract.

6. Shipping & Delivery

  • Standard shipping, express shipping, and pickup by appointment are available.

  • Delivery terms can be found on our website or in the respective product listing.

  • For consumers, the risk of accidental loss only transfers upon handover of the goods.

Lasius niger – The Classic Among Beginner Ants

Lasius niger, also known as the black garden ant, is probably the best-known native ant species. It's low-maintenance, hardy, and doesn't require any special care conditions. However, due to its slow development and long founding phase, it does require a bit of patience – perfect for a calm start.

Tetramorium cf. caespitum – The All-Rounder for Beginners

Rating: ★★★

These small, agile ants from Germany grow quickly, rarely try to escape, and don't need any additional heating. Their active workers and good visibility inside the nest make them an ideal introduction to ant keeping – also suitable for children!

Pheidole pallidula – The Small Two-Caste Society

Rating: ★★☆

This Mediterranean ant offers a great introduction to observing majors (large soldiers) and minor workers. Pheidole pallidula gets by with a shortened winter dormancy and develops fairly quickly. A bit more exotic, but still well suited for beginners.

Camponotus nicobarensis – Exotic Keeping Made Easy

Rating: ★★☆

This tropical Camponotus species is ideal if you want to ease your way into keeping exotic ants. They're impressively large, active at night, and only need moderate heating. Perfect if you want to start an exciting terrarium project!

Messor barbarus – The Fascinating Seed Harvesters

Rating: ★★☆

Messor barbarus adds variety to ant keeping! They collect seeds, which they process into what's known as “ant bread.” Care is straightforward, though you should provide them with enough space. Ideal for anyone looking for something special.

Conclusion:

For the easiest possible start, we recommend Tetramorium cf. caespitum if you enjoy observing and want to see quick progress. If you're curious about exotics, Camponotus nicobarensis is a great choice. And for a truly classic keeping experience, Lasius niger remains the safest bet.
