Advantages and Disadvantages of Acanthomyrmex thailandensis:

Advantages:
A calm species very well suited to keeping, with an interesting caste system (soldiers). Due to its polygynous structure, it is robust against the loss of individual queens.

Disadvantages:
The colony grows rather slowly – the final colony size is often only reached in the third to fifth year.

Care:
Test tube nest at the start; semi-claustral founding with occasional supplemental feeding is possible. Provide moderate humidity in the nest.

Feeding:
Offer honey water, small seeds such as millet, and feeder insects.
