Test tube or wood nest at the start. Temperature fluctuations are well tolerated, though a heat source should be available for active behavior.

Carbohydrates or honeydew substitute (sugar water, honey) as the main food, supplemented with proteins.

Requires a classic winter dormancy from November to March/April at approx. 2 – 6 degrees.
