Description

The Grow Module was specially developed for growing ant colonies and is ideal as an extension to existing nest systems. This handcrafted 3D-printed plaster nest combines modern design with high functionality, offering a nest area of 16 × 8 cm – plenty of space for further colony growth and natural nest structures.

The open chamber design allows excellent observation of the colony, while the transparent acrylic glass cover provides protection and, at the same time, a clear view of the ants, brood, and nest activity at all times.

For a balanced nest climate, the integrated humidification system with a water reservoir of approx. 15 ml capacity provides reliable moisture. The humidity is distributed evenly throughout the nest via a special mesh system in the base, ensuring reliable supply over an extended period.

The Grow Module can be fully integrated into modular nest systems and flexibly expanded using nest connectors. Individually lockable entrances and exits allow targeted control of individual nest areas.

A special safety feature is the integrated locking system: if the sliders or doors are not fully in the intended position (fully open or fully closed), the cover cannot be correctly fitted. This ensures that all closures are properly positioned.

  • The nest is made from PLA, plaster, and sand.
  • Do not expose the product to temperatures above 40 °C, as the material may deform.
  • Use only lukewarm water for cleaning.
  • Do not use aggressive cleaning agents or high temperatures.
  • Do not overfill the water reservoir, to ensure optimal function of the humidification system.

Nest Connector

The nest connector is used to securely and stably connect individual modules within the modular nest system. It allows flexible expansion and combination of different nest modules and ensures a tight, reliable transition between the individual elements.

Thanks to the integrated acrylic glass cover, the transition area remains visible at all times, while the sturdy construction ensures a secure connection between the modules.

The nest connector is compact and specially designed for the modular construction of the nest systems.

Connector Cover

The connector cover is used to neatly seal unused connection points within the modular ant nest system. It is used when no nest connector, tube connector, or test tube connector is attached to a module.

This reliably covers open connection openings, keeping the system closed and creating a uniform, tidy overall appearance. At the same time, the connection points are protected and visually finished off.

The connector cover is not strictly necessary and primarily serves to complete the visual appearance of the system.

Tube and Test Tube Connector

The tube and test tube connector is used to securely connect 16 mm outer-diameter tubing as well as 16 mm test tubes within the modular ant system. It allows a stable, tight coupling of different components and ensures a smooth transition between the nest, tubing system, and test tube setup.

Thanks to its precise fit, the connector ensures a firm hold and a reliable connection without additional tools.

Description

The Core Module is a compact, handcrafted 3D-printed plaster nest and forms the ideal foundation for small ant colonies or modular starter setups. Despite its space-saving size, the nest offers an excellent view of the colony and allows natural, easy observation of the ants.

The integrated 15 ml water reservoir ensures a controlled, even release of moisture into the plaster. Moisture is distributed evenly via a special mesh system in the base, so no additional moistening of the plaster is necessary. The system creates a stable nest climate with low maintenance effort.

To extend the lifespan of the nest and avoid limescale deposits on the surface, the water reservoir should not be overfilled.

Thanks to the modular design, the Core Module can be flexibly combined and expanded with other modules via nest connectors. In addition, the connections feature individually lockable entrances and exits, allowing individual areas of the system to be specifically controlled or separated.

The acrylic glass viewing pane provides a clear view into the nest, while the included blackout cover provides peace and quiet inside when needed.

The Core Module is ideal for founding colonies, smaller species, or as a space-saving extension within larger modular systems.
